    EBIJFF Speaker Presentations During our Festival in 2025, we will present the films listed below with speakers who will enhance your cinematic experience by sharing their knowledge and expertise with you in pre-recorded videos. For in-theatre screenings, you will receive an email within a day of the film's showtime to watch its related presentation. For virtual screenings, the programs will begin immediately after the feature film ends. You will not need to purchase a second ticket or attend a Livestream. His Own Way: The Cinema of Avi Nesher In-theatre: Tuesday , February 25 Online: March 9-14 Eran Kaplan Eran Kaplan is the Rhoda and Richard Goldman Chair in Israel Studies at SF State. He received his B.A. (magna cum laude) from Tel Aviv University and his Ph.D. in Modern Jewish History from Brandeis University. Before coming to San Francisco, he taught at Princeton, Cincinnati, and Toronto. He is the author of The Jewish Radical Right: Revisionist Zionism and its Ideological Legacy and of The Origins Of Israel: A Documentary History with Derek Penslar (both published by the University of Wisconsin Press). In 2016, he published Beyond Post-Zionism with SUNY Press. His most recent scholarly work, Projecting the Nation: History and Ideology on the Israeli Screen, appeared with Rutgers University Press in 2020. In addition to his scholarly publications, he contributed articles to Haaretz and Tikkun. At SF State, Professor Kaplan teaches courses on Modern Israel, the Arab-Israeli Conflict, Israeli Cinema, Modern Hebrew Culture and the History of Jerusalem.   • 2025 In-Theatre Festival | East Bay Jewish Film

    A Film Festival for the East Bay bringing films from all over the world. A Festival that values diversity, encourages inclusion, and educates about ramifications of prejudice and stereotyping. In-Theatre Festival February 22 - 27 We are delighted to return to the Century 16 in Pleasant Hill for six days of Festival enjoyment. We will also visit the Vine Cinema in Livermore o n March 16 for two special screenings. No more waiting in line! All moviegoers will be asked to select their seats at time of ticket purchase for films in the Century 16. Pass holders will reserve their seats before individual tickets go on sale. IMPORTANT: For films shown at the VINE CINEMA in Livermore, tickets will be sold at-the-door after 3 PM on the day of the screening. In-Theatre passes cost $18 0 and go on sale on February 6. They provide tickets for all of our in-theatre screenings and allow you to select your seats before individual tickets go on sale February 10. Tickets cost $12 for films screened before 2 PM and $15 for films screened after 2 PM. $40 Group Sales Pass: Get four of your friends to come to one of our films* and get tickets for $8 each. 5 Tickets to one film at $40. Tickets must be purchased in advance for films at the Century 16 and can only be purchased online. If you plan to buy tickets at-the-door, you must use your phone to purchase them.     Instructions on how to watch our film at home with helpful links. How To Watch Your Online Programming Important Note: For streaming questions related to 2026 Festival and Eventive, please visit Festival Frequently Asked Questions. There you will not only find your streaming answers, but also information on Eventive's chat support and Wishnev Consulting (The Computer Relationship Therapist). Streaming Help provided under Festival FAQs includes valuable information that help guide you during Year-Round programming as well. You may watch the movies on your tablet, computer, or phone in addition to your TV. For all devices except TVs , streaming the movies should be as simple as clicking the link you receive in the confirmation email (after you complete registration and during the period of time that streaming will be available). You may also open your preferred browser (Safari, Chrome, Edge, etc.) and copy and paste the same link to your browser. For Zoom presentations , you would also use the link in the confirmation and/or reminder email you receive before the event begins. The film takes place in 1950s Atlanta. On Thursday, September 7, award-winning historian Fred Rosenbaum explored Black-Jewish relations in America's South. Black-Jewish Relations in America's South Oppenheimer: Beyond the Movie Christopher Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer” opened in theaters. It tells part of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s story and his role in making the atomic bomb. However, there is much more to learn. Tom Ramos, from Lawrence Livermore National Lab, spoke about Oppenheimer’s work before and after the bomb, as well as telling us about the many Jewish scientists who participated. Those Jewish scientists, many of them fleeing the Nazis (and later, Stalin), worked with Oppenheimer, and also with the beginnings of the “Rad Lab” & Livermore Lab. Tom is a physicist whose work at LLNL spans 40 years, including the team that developed the X-Ray laser and is the author of “From Berkeley to Berlin: How the Rad Lab Helped Avert Nuclear War.” This program was s ponsored by Congregation Beth Emek. Fred Rosenbaum's Lecture A Conversation with Greg Laemmle On February 8, meet Greg Laemmle who will talk about the EBIJFF's Opening Day film, Only in Theaters . Greg is the President of Laemmle Theaters, a family-owned and operated company which has been exhibiting movies in Los Angeles since 1938. He is a descendant of Carl Laemmle, the founder of Universal Studios. Greg will also do the Q&A for the documentary when it opens in our area on February 25, at the Century 16 in Pleasant Hill. In-Theatre Festival February 24 - 2 9 We are delighted to return to the Century 16 in Pleasant Hill for six days of Festival enjoyment. We will also visit the Vine Cinema in Livermore on March 17 for two special screenings. No more waiting in line! All moviegoers will be asked to select their seats at time of ticket purchase for films in the Century 16. Pass holders will reserve their seats before individual tickets go on sale. IMPORTANT: For films shown at the VINE CINEMA in Livermore, tickets will be sold at-the-door after 3 PM on the day of the screening. In-Theatre passes cost $18 0 and go on sale on February 5. They provide tickets for all of our in-theatre screenings and allow you to select your seats before individual tickets go on sale February 10. Tickets cost $12 for films screened before 2 PM and $15 for films screened after 2 PM. Tickets must be purchased in advance for films at the Century 16 and can only be purchased online. Through the power of film, speakers and other media, we hope to connect our local Jewish community with diverse religious and ethnic groups, encourage inclusion, and educate against prejudice. Our Film Festival returns to the Century 16 Theatre on Saturday evening, March 7, and will run there until Thursday evening, March 12. From Sunday, March 15, through March 25, we will run many of our films online. Our showing at the Vine Cinema in Livermore will take place on Sunday, March 22.
