About the Event

The drama THE SEA won two honors at the Israeli Academy Awards, winning Best Picture and Best Actor. It centers around the best of the human spirit, combining tenderness as well as comedy.

The story centers on 12 year-old Khaled who, along with his school classmates in the West Bank, is excited about their bus trip to the Mediterranean Sea. However, he is denied permission to enter Israel due to his lack of a legitimate permit; his classmates continue the trip without him.

Khaled is undeterred, however, and starts bravely walking from his home in the West Bank to the Sea despite his lack of Hebrew knowledge and his inexperience. In the meantime, his father, Ribhi, learns that his son is missing and driven by love and fear for him, leaves his work as an undocumented laborer in Israel and ventures to find him.

Admission is free for donors of $1000 or more to the 2026 Film Festival.
