Become a Donor

The old adage, “You can’t control the wind, but you CAN adjust the sails,” is more pertinent now than ever before. Since the pandemic began, we've had to completely rethink how we should use our resources to enrich the lives and spirits of our community during these extraordinary times.

The generosity of individual donors, foundations and corporate sponsors has kept our organization going.

Starting in April 2020, we went “virtual” with our events, streaming films and hosting speakers online. Now we are expanding these programs and will present more than 18 non-Festival events over the next twelve months in order to increase community access to entertainment and education during the pandemic.

Our costs to support these activities such as staffing, maintaining our web site, paying film distribution costs, etc. are ongoing, and ticket sales cover only a fraction of our costs.

Your Help is Needed

Your donation will be used to support our mission of building a vibrant cultural community, using films that celebrate the Jewish experience. Through the power of film, speakers and other forms of media, we connect our local Jewish community with diverse religious and ethnic groups, encourage inclusion, and educate about the ramifications of prejudice and stereotyping.

A donation of any amount is welcome.

A Note from Our Board

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many non-profit organizations to rethink how they can continue to support their community during these extraordinary times, while at the same time remaining true to their mission.

Your support can help us do this.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, we have pivoted to year-round programming that has included not only screenings but also film-related lectures.

For 2021-2022, we will continue to sponsor our very popular Around the World with Fred series of lectures and add a new series, Conversations with Galit. In addition, we are partnering with the East Bay Holocaust Education Center to bring Holocaust-focused movies for free to middle and high school students in our region. We will also continue our collaboration for the series A Wider Lens with the LGBTQ organization A Wider Bridge and the Consulate General of Israel.

Doing all the above is only possible because of the generosity of individuals, foundations and corporate sponsors. If you have already donated to the Festival and its year-round programming, THANK YOU!

If you have not already sent in a contribution, please consider doing so. Although we are not renting a theatre at this time, there are still hidden costs associated with virtual events, such as the costs of our streaming platform and our highly skilled tech experts who work behind the scenes.

Should you have questions or would like to underwrite a film, please contact Riva Gambert, EBIJFF Director, at 925.895.3605 or email her at For your records, IJWC (Independent Jewish World Cinema) is EBIJFF's parent non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and its federal tax ID number is 36-4821405.

Thank you for building community with us through the power of film.
